Good afternoon, beauts. Its been awhile since my last blog post and I do apologize, but as i’m sure you can all relate to – life happens! I will be working toward being more consistent with my entries and providing quality posts featuring all the Avon + markgirl. favorites. In today’s entry, I will be going over the Avon Fragrance Pyramid and sharing fragrance facts.

First, the Fragrance Pyramid. Every fragrance is a subtle blend of three distinct layers – Top: The first impression. This draws you in and captures your attention. Middle: The full body of the fragrance is revealed, giving the fragrance its overall character. Base: This is the lasting note, that lingers and conveys depth and richness.

Dos & Don’ts:
DO keep fragrance away from heat and cold temps.
DON’T leave opened fragrance unused. Once opened, your fragrance will begin to fade or change over time.
DO know that Avon Fragrances are exclusive to Avon. You may find similar scents elsewhere but none are of exact quality.
DON’T spray too close to your skin! To avoid dripping or too heavy of an application, spray 6-7 inches away from your body.
DO apply the matching fragranced lotion directly to the skin, focusing on pulse points. Allow your body heat to develop the fragrance for a true impression.
DON’T forget to spritz your clothes and hair. This will help in holding the scent longer after application.
DO have more than one fragrance in your beauty stash at all times. It is important to change things up as to A) not go “nose-blind” and B) match your scent based on your mood. You may not want a sexy fragrance for going to the grocery store, but instead desire to wear a light, fresh scent.

The Vampy Makeup Trend | Pictures + Product Reviews

Hey there, beauties! Starting off the day with a fresh post and a trendy makeup look: Vampy. I have so much fun playing with my makeup and this was no different. It was a blast taking prepping for this posting. I've been craving to go a bit bold and try a berry lip so I went through my lippy sample bullets and found a beautiful one: Ultra Color Absolute Lipstick in Radiant Raisin ($9). I love this lipstick line from AVON because it has SPF 15 in the formula, which is great for keeping lips healthy and smooth. 

Once I found that, I began setting up my space. I started with my Magix Face Perfector ($11) to get my skin prepped/primed. I added my Smooth Minerals Powder Foundation ($12) using myAVON Kabuki Brush ($6.99). After having the canvas set, I used the AVON Lash Conditioner + Primer ($8 reg.) which i've recently become a huge fan of! 

While I was trying to choose which mascara to use (I have a few different ones on hand!) I decided that I did not want to go for such a bold lash since I was about to don a bold lip. I kept it simple and chose the AVON Wash-Off Waterproof Mascara ($8). which is a fabulous yet basic mascara.

One of my favorite eyeshadow palettes is the True Color Eyeshadow Quad ($8 reg.) I have a few of these in different shades, but the one I chose to wear today was the Chocolate Sensation quad. The soft, shimmering beige brings out my eyes when added to the inner corners, and I love the milk chocolate and truffle shades for the crease Those all have a slight shimmer/sparkle to them but number 4 on the quad, Black Brown is a matte. I've noticed that most of the TC Eyeshadow Quads come this way: Numbers 1 thru 3 - shimmery and number 4 - matte. I use the AVON Pro Eyeshadow Brush ($5.99) and AVON Pro Crease Brush ($5.99). As for the sponge applicator that came with the eyeshadow, I use that to help remove nail enamel. It works great to reaching those inner nail creases.

 I also used my favorite eyeliner, the Ultra Luxury Eye Liner in Dark Brown on the bottom and then used the Ultra Luxury Eye Liner in Eggplant up on the top to get that pop of purple going on my eyes. I love these liners because they are easy to sharpen, the product does not break off or get too soft, and when applied lasts for hours! Another plus? These liners are only $5 each!

5 Do-It-Yourself Makeup Organizer Ideas

Hey, beauties! Are you crossing that fine line between having an impressive makeup collection and being a full-blown hoarder? My Reviews on the Moroccan Argan Oil Haircare Line from Avon

I've never been the type of girl to splurge on hair care products. I always got a bottle of the cheapest shampoo and conditioner and figured it was doing its job. Never did I think that there could actually be more beneficial products out there nor had I noticed how damaged my hair truly was. 

When I become an AVON Representative at the start of this year, I slowly began switching all my beauty products over to AVON -- trying new things and realizing that I could save even more money with my discount! Some of my first switches were what I would call AVON stigma based, the makeup. I tried a few different foundations before finally finding my match with the Magix Face Perfector and the Smooth Minerals Powder Foundation. I got myself new body washes that I loved and that worked for me and then I took notice of the Advance Techniques Hair Care Products. I was quite intrigued as to finding out if these products would fix my severely dried-out hair and split ends. Could I find a more conditioning conditioner? 

AVON has a few different products to their hair care line up. I went through each one and learned what their purpose was (other than to clean hair, of course!) and which one I thought could benefit me the most. The first one that caught my eye was the 360 Nourish Moroccan Argan Oil line. I'll be honest, I judged the product before I even read a description on it. I was drawn to it for the name and had a feeling that it would bring much health to my hair. When I began to read up on the products, I was so excited to give it a whirl.

One time when at the hair salon to get his haircut he received a compliment from his hair stylist. She said: "Your hair is so soft! An Expiration on Beauty? When in Doubt, Toss it Out

This morning i'd like to take some time and blog about the shelf life of your cosmetics and when you are to toss (and then replenish!) your must-haves. 

You may be able to stretch that tube of mascara for a long time. You probably think you are being money conscious, thrifty, and savvy. Saving a few bucks here and there is a wise move, sure --- but not in this case! When you keep your makeup around for longer than you should, you risk all sorts of bacteria growth and this can lead to eye infections and skin irritations that can cause you to break out. Ick. No thanks! So, in case you were unfamiliar about when you should replace your tube of mascara, its every 3 months. Not only do you risk eye infections and acne blunders when you use the same makeup for too long, over time it will also loose its quality and this can result in undesirable looks. Think about the last time you did a makeup toss. If you can't remember when, it's time to go through the makeup bag. As you can see, its sound advice that if you are not sure how old a certain makeup product is, that you should throw it away. 

You should also be washing your makeup brushes at least twice a month to keep them clean and from transferring bacteria to your skin. I use Baby Shampoo to clean mine, it works great!

To help you remember when its time to toss your cosmetics, slap a label on the product of when you opened it and used it for the first time.

10 Household Items that Double as Beauty Helpers

On the blog today are household items that double as beauty helpers. I did some research online and found some of the ones that I might not actually mind trying. I learned a lot about these do-it-yourself beauty tips - and I hope you'll enjoy today's entry!

- Ice Cube Trays | Use an ice cube tray to custom blend your own lip colors or foundation using two or more shades. Simply rinse and pop it in the dishwasher afterwards.

- Rubber Bands | Wrap rubber bands around the cap of nail polish bottles and other hard-to-open tops for better grip.

- Refrigerator | Use your fridge to store eye cream, toners, and astringent. The cooling effect de-puffs eyes and skin.

- Coffee Filters | Ditch the pricey oil-blotting papers and use these instead—they work just as well.

- Band Aids | Use a classic Band-Aid to add some sweet polka dots to your manicure! (Most are perforated with tiny dots.)

- Tin Foil | Did you know that tin foil can be used to create curly hair when coupled with a flatiron? Lean how HERE

- Vaseline | Who knew dabbing a touch of Vaseline wherever you spray perfume makes your scent last longer. Why? Because the oils found in petroleum jelly “holds on” to scents and prevents evaporation.

- Toothpicks | Standard toothpicks are a foolproof way to spot-fix any nail polish mistakes. You can also use ’em to crate basic nail designs like shapes or letters.

- A Toothbrush | Spritzing hairspray on a toothbrush can help tame flyaways and style bangs as well as amping up your brow game.

- Dryer Sheets | Use these to effortlessly remove static from your hair (Bonus Tip: A damp used dryer sheet can remove soap and shampoo build-up in your tub, too!)
