My New Makeup Obsession: True Color Lip Crayons

Afternoon, beauts — Before today I had only heard of lip crayons… I never tried them out. I had a few customers order some lately and so I had asked: “What’s the buzz on these lip crayons?” What I found out was that these True Color Lip Crayons are: Easy to use, Have a convenient/simplistic packaging for outings/trips, Well-pigmented color (12 shades to choose from), and Available in two finishes for different looks (Shimmer and Cream). My Avon Beauty Favorites | Post 4

Hey, beauts — Happy March! Spring is truly around the corner and I cannot wait. Sure, the snow is pretty to look at but so are bright colored flowers and sunshine! In my first blog post of March, i’ll be continuing my series on My Avon Beauty Faves Roundup, with Post Four. I hope you all enjoy it! I’m going to start first with the lipstick. The all-new Perfectly Matte Lipstick in shade Ideal Lilac is a perfect shade for Spring. It’s bright and the matte finish is a current beauty trend. My Avon Beauty Favorites | Post 3

Hey there, beauts! Its a new day and I've got a new post to share with you all, featuring more of My Avon Beauty Faves. Just like the other posts to this series, I will share my reasons for why I love each featured product. I will also list product prices and include any deals/special offers where applicable. After the post, I would like to once again open it up for discussion --- so, be sure to leave a comment below!

I'd like to start off the post today with the Avon Care Silicone Glove Protective Hand Cream. This is an Avon Favorite of many and has been for years. I first got this for myself at the end of November, last year. The Seasonal Mini Hand Creams were available, and I bought the bundle which included this product. My seven year old son loves when I get "Avon goodies" so, I gave him a mini tube of the Silicone Glove and was happy that he was happy. He tried it out right away and came to me with excitement at how good it smelled. He said "I'm not exactly sure what it smells like, it's like something I know of. But it's real good, Mom. My hands are so soft now!" Then I thought, hey with a little review like that, how could I not give it a try myself!? My first impression of this product was how it did not feel like hand cream as I rubbed it in. It was not sticky and absorbed into my skin quickly and felt like I had just used baby powder on my hands. That's when it hit me --- the scent of this Silicone Glove Protective Hand Cream is incredibly reminiscent to that of baby powder. It is fresh and clean smelling. It is soft, and works wonders at healing and protecting my hands with all of the dish washing I do around here! Avon Perfectly Matte Lipstick Swatches + Product Review

Good evening, loves! If you haven’t heard yet, Avon has just released a new lipstick line and its right on trend. (True Matte Eyeshadow Quads are also available but in this post, i’ll be getting lippy with the lipsticks.)

I’d like to start with saying that I have never been much of a glossy girl. I don’t care much for sticky lips that don’t provide any color with its shine. I tend to prefer the sparkle and glitz to be around my eyes. While Avon does have a few demi-matte lipsticks to the Ultra Color Lipstick line, the truth is they were lacking some shade variety. Also, demi-matte is not a true matte and so when I caught sight of the Perfectly Matte Lipsticks I got incredibly excited! There are 12 True Color Perfectly Matte Lipstick shades to choose from and they are all gorgeous!

The name of this lipstick line could not be more fitting. First, True Color. Once again, Avon has done it — what you see is what you get. I appreciate that when I see a tube of Avon lipstick, I’m sure to get the same color on my lips when applied. Other brands have let me down but Avon sure hasn’t. Then, there’s the Perfectly Matte part to the name. Yes, just that — Perfectly Matte. If you are looking for a smooth yet vibrant lipstick that has lasting power without shimmer and shine, this line is for you! Here are all 12 of the True Color Perfectly Matte Lipsticks that I “swatched out”. I always have a great time doing these swatches, even though my kids look at my like i’m crazy!

My very first impression on these lipsticks was how smoothly they applied. It was such an effortless application. I’m sure you, like myself, have experienced some waxy lip products that you have to give a great deal of pressure to, to get some kind of color out. This is not the case with these lipsticks — each shade delivers its own unique and eye-pleasing color.  I couldn’t wait to try out all 12 shades on my lips, so I “put my face on” and got my camera ready!

Starting from the bottom left corner and going to the right then straight up, Shade names: Hot Plum, Coral Fever, Perfectly Nude, Marvelous Mocha, and Ideal Lilac. My next impression of the products? Thank goodness for no sticky, harsh, chemical taste. There’s nothing worse than wearing an incredible lip color and having it become tainted due to an unpleasant taste. Also, these lipsticks have such a light feeling to them yet the color is anything but.

After applying these “First Five” I found my favorites were Hot Plum and Marvelous Mocha.  They are all gorgeous though and I can see myself wearing them all for various occasions.  Which one is your favorite out of this group? Leave a comment after the post!

The Vampy Makeup Trend | Pictures + Product Reviews

Hey there, beauties! Starting off the day with a fresh post and a trendy makeup look: Vampy. I have so much fun playing with my makeup and this was no different. It was a blast taking prepping for this posting. I've been craving to go a bit bold and try a berry lip so I went through my lippy sample bullets and found a beautiful one: Ultra Color Absolute Lipstick in Radiant Raisin ($9). I love this lipstick line from AVON because it has SPF 15 in the formula, which is great for keeping lips healthy and smooth. 

Once I found that, I began setting up my space. I started with my Magix Face Perfector ($11) to get my skin prepped/primed. I added my Smooth Minerals Powder Foundation ($12) using myAVON Kabuki Brush ($6.99). After having the canvas set, I used the AVON Lash Conditioner + Primer ($8 reg.) which i've recently become a huge fan of! 

While I was trying to choose which mascara to use (I have a few different ones on hand!) I decided that I did not want to go for such a bold lash since I was about to don a bold lip. I kept it simple and chose the AVON Wash-Off Waterproof Mascara ($8). which is a fabulous yet basic mascara.

One of my favorite eyeshadow palettes is the True Color Eyeshadow Quad ($8 reg.) I have a few of these in different shades, but the one I chose to wear today was the Chocolate Sensation quad. The soft, shimmering beige brings out my eyes when added to the inner corners, and I love the milk chocolate and truffle shades for the crease Those all have a slight shimmer/sparkle to them but number 4 on the quad, Black Brown is a matte. I've noticed that most of the TC Eyeshadow Quads come this way: Numbers 1 thru 3 - shimmery and number 4 - matte. I use the AVON Pro Eyeshadow Brush ($5.99) and AVON Pro Crease Brush ($5.99). As for the sponge applicator that came with the eyeshadow, I use that to help remove nail enamel. It works great to reaching those inner nail creases.

 I also used my favorite eyeliner, the Ultra Luxury Eye Liner in Dark Brown on the bottom and then used the Ultra Luxury Eye Liner in Eggplant up on the top to get that pop of purple going on my eyes. I love these liners because they are easy to sharpen, the product does not break off or get too soft, and when applied lasts for hours! Another plus? These liners are only $5 each!

An Expiration on Beauty? When in Doubt, Toss it Out

This morning i'd like to take some time and blog about the shelf life of your cosmetics and when you are to toss (and then replenish!) your must-haves. 

You may be able to stretch that tube of mascara for a long time. You probably think you are being money conscious, thrifty, and savvy. Saving a few bucks here and there is a wise move, sure --- but not in this case! When you keep your makeup around for longer than you should, you risk all sorts of bacteria growth and this can lead to eye infections and skin irritations that can cause you to break out. Ick. No thanks! So, in case you were unfamiliar about when you should replace your tube of mascara, its every 3 months. My mascara favs: Big & False Lash and Wash-Off Waterproof. Have you tried these?

Not only do you risk eye infections and acne blunders when you use the same makeup for too long, over time it will also loose its quality and this can result in undesirable looks. Think about the last time you did a makeup toss. If you can't remember when, it's time to go through the makeup bag. As you can see, its sound advice that if you are not sure how old a certain makeup product is, that you should throw it away. 

You should also be washing your makeup brushes at least twice a month to keep them clean and from transferring bacteria to your skin. I use Baby Shampoo to clean mine, it works great!

To help you remember when its time to toss your cosmetics, slap a label on the product of when you opened it and used it for the first time.
